Something's Changed! Source of Product and Place Manufactured not on Label.

I have been using Bluebonnet Whey Protein off and on for several years but something has changed. It used to have a much creamier and more chocolately taste when mixed with water, but this time it just tasted weak. I didn't like it at all. Also, Bluebonnet used to advertise that it was made from the milk of grass fed New Zealand cows. I could find not one thing on the label about country of origin for the product and place of manufacturing. The only notation was that it was manufactured (manufacturer or location not named) FOR (not by) the company which is based in Texas. So was it made in the US from US milk or some other country? Those are important questions to me. I will probably not buy Bluebonnet again. Very sad about this.

Great Product!!

A little background...I'm a competitive cyclist who is on a calorie-restricted diet to lose fat prior to the racing season. I was getting lots of nutrition in the form of fruit and vegetable smoothies (primarily strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, bananas and spinach) but I didn't feel like I was getting enough protein in my diet because between the smoothies and a salad with a moderate amount of chicken on it for lunch, I was not getting the recommended 120+ grams of protein for someone with my profile.

I figured supplementation with a no-nonsense protein powder was the way to go. I looked at a bunch of nutrition information and ingredients. It's amazing how many carbohydrates, saturated fat grams, and even cholesterol are in some of these protein drinks. This one has none of that. If you figure out the calories, each scoop is 95% protein calories with none of that bad stuff. They even use Stevia (IMO one of the better sweeteners health-wise) to sweeten things.

I ordered the chocolate to have aside from my smoothies and I ordered the vanilla to have mixed in with my fruit/veggie smoothies (I already use Vanilla yogurt in them with Vanilla Almond Milk). I first tried the recipe for a chocolate, banana and peanut butter smoothie after a training race. Mmmm, mmm good. 1 Banana, 1 cup of vanilla almond milk, 1 tbsp of peanut butter and a scoop of the Bluebonnet Chocolate Whey Protein powder. Really good. Dump the peanut butter and you save 100 calories, but I like peanut butter and chocolate, what can I say?

[[ASIN:B0025Q70P0 Whey Protein Isolate French Vanilla - 2 lbs - Powder]]

DISHONEST ADVERTISING

Product description on Amazon says it contains milk, but is free of soybeans. NOT SO! IT DOES CONTAIN SOYBEANS. Furthermore, for those with allergies: this product is "manufactured in a facility that processes products containing milk, soybeans, wheat, shellfish, fish oil, tree nuts and peanut flavor".

Amazon should require not only a correction to the product description, but the addition of the packaging label's SUPPLEMENT FACTS as an image on its site (for this product and all foods/supplements!). Amazon customers are entitled to be fully informed, and to be able to rely on product site images and descriptions...this is a huge oversight and disservice.

Best vanilla whey

I have tried several vanilla whey powders, and this is the best-tasting, by far. Most of the others I had to put in the blender with some fruit and Truvia to help the taste. I still do that with this one occasionally (minus the Truvia), but I like that I don't have to. I can throw it in my Blender Bottle with some skim milk or coconut milk, and I'm out the door in the morning. After testing it out myself, I just bought a canister for my mom.

Tastes good and all natural!

I did a ton of research before wandering into my local Sprout's grocery and talking to the person who works in the nutritional department there. I told her that I was trying to find a replacement for chocolate milk and this is the first item she picked up. It's nutritionally balanced and she was honest and told me that it's about a 7 on scale of 1-10 from being gag worthy to tasting like a chocolate milkshake. I picked it and some unsweetened almond milk up and had a shake as soon as I got home.

It was 10x better than I expected. Not chalky or grainy, really smooth texture and not too foamy either. I can definitely see myself drinking this every day. It tasted like very gently flavored chocolate milk.

Weird after taste

It smells like cake mix, so i was very excited to taste this. But it has such an odd after taste that I'm looking for ways to actually mask it. Be it through smoothies or parfaits. I'm gonna keep using it, cause it's a clean product and I don't like wasting money but I don't think I'd buy this again.
