Great Product, but SAVE MONEY by knowing how to read their BAIT AND SWITCH labels!

Great Product, but one star deducted for the slight bait and switch tactic they use to label their product line. Barleans makes a "kids" and "regular" lemon oil that are THE EXACT SAME, just the kids is packaged in a smaller bottle with a cute label and instructions to give less (5 ml vs 10 ml). You're paying $2 per 16 on Amazon just to be told the children's dose, which could EASILY be written on the adult lemon bottle. As you will see in my picture, I bothered to do the math, and they are the SAME EPA, DHA and Omega 3s per ML of Oil (as well as the same ingredient list). The best bargain is their Lime High Potency oil, which is 13% more expensive, but gives you 37%-40% EPA, DHA and Omega 3s per ML. This product is STILL using flim-flam marketing tricks though, because they cheat to make it look like 200% more instead of the true 40% more by increasing the dose size from 10 ml on the adult lemon to 15 ml on the adult lime! The lime is still worth the increase in price, BUT it is so shady that they change the dosing so they can claim on the front 720 mg vs 1500 mg!

NOTE: All the reviewers claiming they can taste a fish after taste from the lime are having a psychosomatic response, you CANNOT taste it. I have done a blind taste test with my picky 6 and 3 year old daughters (and myself, though not blind) and we all agreed that all 3 taste like deliciously sweet and creamy lemon and lime (seriously, it is like melted lemon or lime sherbert!). The lime tastes the slightest bit more "artificial" when the flavor first hits your tongue, but there is no after taste. All they did in the lime to make it "high potency" is cut back on water (you can tell because the calories rise a proportionate 33% for the lime vs the lemon).

If you are giving your children the "kids" lemon, stop wasting the $2 and just refill your old bottle with the grown up lemon, or better yet with a 50 / 50 mix of the lemon and lime till they don't notice and eventually switch them to the lime 100%. They are even the same color! My kids still excitedly remind me to give them their lemon oil whenever I forget, because they LOVE it, and they've been switched to the high potency lime for over a month now! LOL

You Won't Believe It Until You Try It

People told me there was nothing fishy tasting about this product, but I didn't believe a word anyone said. Then I tried is. Good grief but it tastes good. I squirt it straight from the bottle into my mouth or use it as a topping on protein pancakes when I go all Rambo healthy on myself. Hand to heart, you'd never know it was fish oil. I hate fish. Love this. I am now one of *those* people who won't stop preaching about this product. How annoying.

Tastes suprising good - no fish flavor noticable at all

My son has ADHD so I wanted to start him on a fish oil supplement. He cannot swallow those giant capsules yet since he is only 7 years old so I had to find a liquid version. To have the best results for ADHD, you need 1000-2000 mg of omega-3's with a 3:1 ratio of DHA to EPA. That is not possible with the gummy style vitamins without taking a bunch of them each day. This omega swirl was recommended on an ADHD website and it said it didn't taste like fish oil and didn't cause fish burps as long as you take it along with food. My local vitamin store sold the pinapple-passionfruit smoothie flavor. My son really liked that one. Amazon offered the citrus sorbet flavor at a better price. He was skeptical at first because the color was slightly different. I didn't tell him it was a different flavor because he likes things just so. He took this flavor without a complaint though. I can say that his teacher noticed a difference in his behavior after he had been taking it for about a week so I will keep up with him taking it. I am so happy I found a good tasting (and yes, I have tasted it too) fish oil supplement that can help my son.

Carlson's fish oil better buy that Barlean's.

The price is too high for the amount of nutriants it contains. I had been using Carlson's fish oil for years at about $35 for 16 Oz when I saw the same amount of Barlean's for $20. Just received the order. While the quality may be good, the the total amount, of Omega-3 and the amount of EPA and EFA are only about 25 % of that in the same amount of Carlson,s according to both labels.
I am going back to the Carlson;s.

ok to order by mail

I tried this from a friend and ended up wanting to buy some because of the health benefits, but I can't stand the fishy taste of normal fish oil (and this one tastes good - like lemon meringue.) After reading reviews, I was hesitant to buy through mail order so I wrote to Barleans and this is the response I got - just wanted to share this since it is fine to order it via mail...

Thanks for writing. Yes, this would be just fine as we don't ship refrigerated to consumers or to our retailers. The product would need to be heated to over 300 degrees F to start to break down. I hope this helps best of health!

Child doesn't like it straight but it seems to be working for ADHD

My 6 year old was recently diagnosed with ADHD and his doctor suggested trying fish oil since I didn't want to put him on medication just yet. I eventually settled on this product due to the high dosage of omega 3s and the comments that even picky children found it tasty.

My son is very picky and did not like it, he said it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. I kind of agree, it's too sweet for me. We ended up mixing it with water and ice as a kind of "lemonade" and he liked that, he's even started asking me to make it if he thinks about it before I do. So that's a relief. I may try to find another product that is lemon flavored but not as sweet, but this will do for now. There are some reviews saying it tasted fishy, ours has zero fish taste, I wonder if that's how you know it's gone bad.

Anyway in regards to ADHD, I read elsewhere it might take 2-3 weeks before I notice any difference in behavior. It's been 1 week and I swear it's already helping in some minor ways. For example, ever since he started taking it I think i've had to ask him to stop screeching at the top of his lungs maybe once or twice, whereas before it was multiple times a day. He still "screams" but he does it QUIETLY, which is so crazy to me, it's like he now has the ability to limit his volume instead of always going 0 to 100. I'm trying not to fall for any placebo effects but that sort of thing is definitely something you notice, you know?
