I have strong mixed feelings about this review.<br /><br />Frankly, I don't know why anyone creates food items with sugar alcohols in them anymore. Nobody likes them. They're terrible on the GI tract and cause massive problems for anybody that eats too much of them. "Too much" is different for everyone, and sometimes it's not even constant for the person. Once you have too much, you can experience gas, bloating and even diarrhea. It's a terrible thing to put in a bar marketed to people trying to be healthy.<br /><br />I ordered these without knowing that these bars were full of sugar alcohols. Why? Because there's no nutritional information given on the listing other than number of grams of protein. I should have known they were trying to hide something from people, but I guess I'm just too naive and believe people are trying to do the right thing. I have attached relevant pictures from the Box for ingredients and nutritional information.<br /><br />Now here's where I'm really struggling. The bars actually taste pretty good. Note that even though this is chocolate fudge flavored, there is a strong coconut flavor on top of everything as well. I'm not a big fan of coconut and once again no information was given, so I was disappointed to have that additional flavor included.<br /><br />The texture of the bars is chewy. Very very chewy. It’s very close to the consistency of fresh saltwater taffy. Yes, that chewy. On the other hand it's reasonably easy to bite a piece off the bar, and it turns out that it's not a terribly messy bar to eat.<br /><br />Finally, I won't talk about price other than to say that at the current time of this review, they seem relatively expensive for like priced bars. At the time of this review, prices are going all over the place, so just check and make sure it's got the kind of value you think you want.<br /><br />So in the end, if you're willing to risk sugar alcohols, like chocolate and coconut, and the price fits your budget, these bars might be the right ones for you.

Overall this is a good tasting chocolate protein bar. I’m not a huge chocolate fan so not sure I’d buy in the future. However, this does contain a higher protein count, so it made for a nice meal replacement snack. I found the texture to be good and not overly chewy.

I'm a big fan of protein bars. I'm always on the go and don't always have time to stop and eat a proper meal, in those times I turn to protein bars for energy during the day. I really like the look of the bars. Some bars are very dull and unappealing but that wasn't the case for the chocolate fudge flavored bar. The texture of the bar is similar to many high protein bars but I like the addition of a "caramel" layer that improves the texture and appearance. The flavor is the only thing that I had an issue with. The flavor says chocolate fudge but I felt like I was detecting a hint of coconut. I was hoping for a clean chocolate flavor and those that are not fond of the coconut chocolate combination might be a little disappointed. Still, these bars were tasty and I'd still like to try the blueberry white chocolate flavor someday.

Chocolate Fudge Flavor. These bars make a great high-protein snack when you want something sweet, chewy and satisfying! It’s a great option instead of a sugary candy bar. These bars are a little higher in calories than some other protein bars, at 230 cal each, but it’s a decent size and provides 20g of protein. Each bar also has 10g of fat, 18g of carbs and 6g of fiber. It is sweetened with Maltitol (sugar alcohol), Sorbitol (sugar alcohol) and FructoOggliosaccharides syrup (a plant-based sugar that does not impact blood sugar), and sucralose (Splenda). If sugar alcohols disagree with your digestive system, you might want to skip these. They also contain milk and wheat.<br /><br />These bars have a really nice chewiness with chocolate, caramel and little almond bits. It is particularly nice with a cup of coffee or tea. This bar is enrobed in a chocolate-like substance that may be prone to melting, so may not be a good choice for throwing in your backpack on a warm day. I’m really enjoying these bars – they feel like a treat – and I don’t notice any side-effects from the sugar alcohols.

I like the flavor of these bars, however they are too sticky on your teeth. They are way too chewy.<br />The chocolate flavor is great and these bars deliver on protein. Of course, I'm happy with the no added sugar and only 301 grams of sugar in a bar. There are sugar alcohols which some people are sensitive to. But if you don't mind a bar that's sticky and chewy with sugar alcohols, these are tasty.

These taste great. as far as protein bars go, these are a tad higher in calories for what I am used to having, but because they taste good, I am not worrying too much about it. 20g of protein is good. So I like these, and would probably get them again or try other flavors.
