No Fishy Aftertaste

Product: New Roots Herbal Wild Omega-3, 900mg, EPA 600mg DHA 330 mg (60 Softgels)

This supplement contains EPA and DHA, which I expect in an Omega 3 supplement. The source is from wild caught sardine and anchovies. There aren’t any additives that I could see from the labeling.

The big issue I have with Omega-3 supplements is the lovely fish oil taste (not!) coming back to visit you a while after taking them. I didn’t experience that problem with this supplement. I have also gotten fish oil supplements where the oil seemed to be rancid, by the smell of it in the bottle. This supplement didn’t seem rancid based on their smell.

The size of the soft gels is what I expected for Omega-3, although they were a bit squatter (thicker and shorter). I didn’t have any trouble swallowing them, but my mother did have some problems. She has trouble swallowing any larger pill now though.

This is a product of Canada, which I like. My bottle came properly labeled and sealed. The lid is not childproof. The expiration date was good for almost 2 years.

I had no major complaints with this product, and it seems to be a fair good quality of Omega-3.

Add these to your daily routine

Great supplement to add to your daily routine. Helped me bring my cholesterol numbers down. Easy to swallow and no after taste at all. Would definitely recommend them.

Good.

These are a bit big to swallow, but not impossible, I have to add I don't like to take pills so please take this part of the review with a grain of salt, but they are indeed big, they have the classical appearance of the regular gel pills and the good part is that no after taste and not fishy burping, so that tells me that they are fresh.
I like them, even if they are a bit hard to swallow.

Less Toxins, More Omegas

My doctor always reminds me to take Omega 3s, and I do my best to forget because even the thought of fish makes me queasy. The fear of burping up fish is anathema to me.

I tried these and they're pretty good -- the fishy aspect that I'm so sensitive to is well hidden. Psychologically, I'm still aware I've ingested fish, but there's not much taste even when I do burp.

This oil is made from wild caught fish so the toxins are lower than in farmed. You're supposed to take two a day. I'm only taking one and I do it at lunch time to help insure I'm not reminded of what I've ingested. My husband says they're fine -- he's not a fish fan but doesn't over-react to it like I do. Four stars from both of us.

A bit more palatable for me

I haven’t seemed to find a fish oil I readily find myself able to take regularly. I avoid them, the old “hard pill to swallow” idea.

I love that these have lemon. It covers quite a bit of the smell. I do get burping with these but the lemon also helps with that. I have issues with my LES though so some people may not have the same response as I’m more likely to have this side effect on even burpless capsules.

These are standard large fish oil capsules. I have to take one at a time.

I like that these are wild caught. I am also glad they are made of anchovies and sardines. I always thought salmon was the gold standard but they tend to have higher mercury. There are several similar omegas at this price point. This brand is fish oil concentrates which renders it as an ethyl ester which arguably may be less readily absorbed than pure fish oil but the higher concentration outweighs this to me. It’s so much more important to take it regularly than it is to worry about which form. And with the lemon in these I’m actually taking them. They’re also made in Canada which I feel is an acceptable source.

Good for Your Heart - From Wild Sources, Not Farmed

Climate change is wrecking havoc on our oceans and threatening our supply of clean, non-contaminated fish. That's why it's worth paying extra for wild caught fish, especially extracts that are used for vitamins such as these. The best part about these softgels is that they're not as big as others I've ordered and are easy to swallow. They have a slight fishy odor but not too strong. Overall they are good and seem to reduce the likelihood of heart disease if taken regularly.
