Not Paleo

This product contains sugar, soy lecithin, dextrose(corn) and dairy. Therefore, it is not paleo. Please read ingredients when buying any food products regardless of the name.

Not only tastes VERY good, is a whey concentrate (not isolate) processed properly!

I've been eating close to, but not really, Primal (I won't give up sucraloses or dairy, but I focus on clean protein, vegetables, fruit, mostly organic or "natural" and have quit with the sugar/gluten/all grains but occasional rice/vegetable oils other than olive/use butter and coconut oil and ghee, etc). I've lost a lot of weight (121 lbs), most of it this year eating in that not-quite-Paleo-but-kinda and clean manner.

But because the body does tend to get metabolically effed up after a lot of weight loss on low-calorie dieting (1200 to 1400 cals), I'm now getting close to goal weight, and I want to work on healing the metabolic issue. I used to use whey protein early in my weight loss journey to support my workouts. Then I stopped and focused on real meat/eggs, etc.

Reading THE SMARTER SCIENCE OF SLIM suggests supplementing with green tea (which I had cut way back on, preferring coffee) and with whey protein. So, I'm back to purchasing. I decided I wanted Paleo/Primal/Primarian/Clean friendly whey, hence this one (and I also ordered Swanson's to sample, to see which I liked better).

This one is great. Seriously. Like it better than the Solgar Whey to Go and Syntha-6 I used last year and part of this. I prefer the flavor. I like the clean profile--grass-fed cows, no hormones/etc, safe processing that eschews damaging high heat.

If you want a safer, better whey protein to supplement your weight loss, metabolism-healing, or workout/muscle-building strategy, I can recommend this one. Resupplementing with whey (even with lighlty increasing my calories) has me out of my stall and losing (slowly) again. Eighteen pounds to go to goal weight. :)

Mixes nicely. Good taste. Safe cows. I like that! I plan to try the vanilla next.

My fave quickie use: The chocolate in a shaker, add water or coconut milk or almond milk, add raw cacao powder (I use an organic one), add milled flax seed (I use Bob's Red Mill golden flax meal), shake and drink. Nice and nutritious.

Enjoy!

Good for healthy shakes, not post-op

Very high quality and high bioavailability protein powder.
The flavour is very unassuming, certainly not too sweet.
Mixes well with fruit and soy/almond/milk or juice, but not that great on its own.
Great nutrition profile, but not so good for post-op patients as the protein is not so impressive (17g) per scoop and it really needs to be blended with something more flavourful.
The company makes very high quality products, so while this is definitely one of the more expensive protein powders out there, its probably one of the most nutritious and high quality.

Dextrin is a fiber!

One of the benefits of dextrin as a natural fiber is aiding the body in expelling waste. It increases the lactobacilli levels in the colon, promoting the body’s digestive abilities. It helps in reducing cholesterol levels, gives the feeling of fullness, regulates insulin response and reduces the risk of heart disease. It's not a simple carb, it's fiber. The label explains the fractional amount of soy lecithin as well.

Good ingredients, not 100% on taste, but better than most

I prefer the vanilla over the chocolate. The chocolate has a weird aftertaste. However, you can't beat the natural ingredients. My doctor recommended this brand of meal-replacement and whey protein powder for me. I have to follow a Paleo-like diet to control my PCOS. I'm always running late in the morning, so this is a great option.
Mixes smoothly.
Tastes okay.

Terrific product: healthy, grass-fed cows, no high heat processing, cocentrate (not isolate). Good stuff.
