I USED to love this stuff.<br /><br />Let me first start off by saying how much I USED to love this stuff. I would have it every morning in a self made protein shake. I spent years incorporating spiru-tein into my diet. However, this all changed in the most recent shipment.<br /><br />They changed the formula and it is almost unbearable to drink. I immediately noticed the change when I unscrewed the lid. There is an obvious artificial vanilla scent/flavor that is very strong. They also changed the sweetener and it is WAY too sweet. I will be returning both 5lb bottles that I just recently purchased. They destroyed a great product. I really don't understand why they made a formula change to an otherwise outstanding product.<br /><br />Bottom line - I will not be purchasing again until the formula is changed back. Hopefully, they'll notify me some how. I will update the review if I hear that the formula has been changed back. This product is absolutely disgusting right now. I am not a picky eater at all but will spit this stuff out.

I have been buying this product for over 20 years and it has been consistently great! However, I learned after I received this last shipment that the formula changed. Like the other reviewers I noticed as soon as I unscrewed the lid. It smelled and tasted awful. The consistency also changed. It left a bad aftertaste as well as upsetting my stomach. I returned it and called Natures Way. I had a long talk with the guy spearheading the fallout from the shake change. He is trying to change it back but he wasn't too convincing. What a shame...it was such an awesome breakfast shake! I will repost if it gets changed back. I can't imagine anyone who loved the original will be a fan of this change!

I have to echo other recent reviews here and say this is some kind of new formula, and it is AWFUL! If I could give zero stars I would! I have been a loyal spiru-tein vanilla protein powder user for 5 years now, and purchased this thinking it was my usual shake powder that I have purchased many times before here. I couldn't be more wrong. The texture is definitely different, and the taste is beyond NAUSEATING. There is some sort of &#34;chemically&#34; sweet aftertaste that sits with you all day long afterwards and just never goes away. Will never again buy this unless they miraculously (ha ha) go back to the old formula. Extremely disappointing.

Spiru-tein has changed, it is now awful. The taste and smell is NAUSEATING - INTENSLEY SWEET. The consistacey has changed also. What have they done to a once good product?<br />I have consumed for breakfast SPIRU-TEIN vanilla Nature's Plus for 14 years and have been completely satisfied UP UNTIL the last 5lb order. I will never get it again unless they go back to their former recipe

I have purchased this product for years and I have to admit, I am a little addicted! This allows me to get a super nutritious breakfast without any guilt. It also provides a great source of nutrients and super foods. The vanilla is my personal favorite. I add berries, or peaches, or a banana, sometimes a dollop of peanut butter...and for the liquid I add plain unsweetened almond milk, or v8 fusion, chocolate rice milk, or water. The shake is super rich and creamy with a slight pistachio flavor, I guess that is the spiru- algae. YUM! You've got to try this. There are many other flavors, but economically I prefer this option. I feel great because I am slowly losing weight with a controlled calorie breakfast without feeling like I am starving myself. I could easily have this as my morning routine for the rest of my life :0)

I have been using this product for 10+ years and loved it. They changed the formula recently and it's awful. It has a sickening sweet artificial vanilla smell now, different texture and it is not the same experience at all. All day I tasted the strong vanilla flavoring from a shake drank hours earlier.<br /><br />If I could return this product, I would. I bought 5 lbs and it is not returnable, a $70 loss.
