Good before bed - not for a post-workout shake!

First, do not be mistaken. This is a whey concentrate, not isolate. This means several things. For some, it may be harder to digest. for all it simply will not do for a pre or post workout shake due to the fact it is so much slower to be absorbed and put to work repairing those muscles. You would only be robbing yourself of your own gains using a concentrate rather than an Isolate.

Where this is useful though is to add to your protein intake. For example, when you wake up in the morning or before going to bed to avoid going catabolic while you sleep. This is a slow absorption protein, so I have also used this just a as a mid day shake to simply meet my daily protein requirements when I haven't had enough from my food.

It is a low price, but is more useful just for rounding out your protein intakes. This is not the go-to powder you want to use after your workout.

As with the Isolate though, This is one of the best chocolate flavors I have ever had. Believe me on it, I have tried many protein powders and MRPs (meal Replacement Powder- like Muscle Milk). The flavor is rich, creamy and most of all REAL. If you want a chocolate concentrate, you have found it.

Once upon a time it was good

I've been using Now products for many years. For it's quality, cost benefits and specially flavor when it comes to Isolated Whey, this used to be the best by far. Used to.

For some months I couldn't find it anymore until this appeared. Bought it as an isolated whey but how was I wrong.

Its taste is horrible! Among one of the worst whey I've taken, by far! The amount of whey in it is 57% and includes other types of whey. There are 8g (19%) of fat!! This is horrible!!

Back in the days or used to have around 70% isolated whey and no fat at all

Drop it. Just changed to ISOPURE as a replacement.

Great value with pure ingredients

Taste isn’t the greatest, but also not the worst. Still giving this protein five stars because the ingredients are pure with no additives you see in other proteins and is a great value. Also a plus that’s it’s gluten free.

Taste has changed. Not as good as it was, but still good.

Taste changed in my most recent shipment. A friend who also gets this product confirmed. I've enjoyed this product for a few years now, and sadly like many other brands I enjoyed before, they had to go and change the formula. It doesn't taste bad now, but it is not nearly as good as it was up until now.
*UPDATE* My review above was submitted when the product was called Dutch Chocolate. I infer from the new name that an ingredient must have been substituted (no doubt for something cheaper) that altered the flavor enough to prompt the change. Either that or my two prior Dutch Chocolate shipments were actually early batches of Creamy Chocolate that preceded the new labeling (seems unlikely). As mentioned above, it still tastes okay and is a very good product, but the Dutch Chocolate flavor was much better.

It's different - but I figured out how to handle the clumps.

I've been ordering this for years and this last batch is different. It taste like they added more sugar or xylitol and took away cocoa. The powder is definitely white as if it wasn't mixed well. It also doesn't dissolve as well as it used to in a shaker bottle. Have to think twice about reordering this again after several years of using it.

UPDATE: I figured out if you let it sit 10-15 minutes after using a shaker bottle, it is much creamier and more chocolaty. The chocolate must take longer to dissolve but once you let it sit and be patient, it is pretty good. I updated from 2 stars to 4 stars.
