Long time user

I've been using this brand for about 4 or 5 years now. Only more recently, I switched from isolate to this concentrate because it's less processed and has way more bioactive nutrients that are viable, yet stripped away from isolates. So worth it. I always go unflavored cause I'm not a little girl. This stuff is quality clean fuel with a good price. It mixes well in a shaker, and mixed with milk it just tastes like powdered milk. I'd love to try some organic grassfed protein but if you're not willing to spend 90 bucks, this is top notch right here.

It's impossible to find good tasting protein shakes that don't use artificial sweeteners or stevia - just sugar or at least a combination of sugar and stevia. I currently use Gold Standard Natural Whey, but it's really pricey. I also wanted something I could use in baking. This concentrate is super versatile. I add it to all my smoothies and shakes and have used it in baked goods - I just substitute a scoop or two for some of the flour. It does tend to make baked goods somewhat dense, so keep that in mind. You can also make your own protein bars using a number of recipes found online. My usual shake is simply frozen berries, orange juice or almond milk, a scoop of Whey powder, and a little agave or sugar. I blend in a nutribullet and it's super filling. One note - blend your other ingredients first and then add the whey powder, otherwise, it tends to get quite "puffy" which is a texture I don't care for.

Not as advertised

Disappointed - I have always used the Now Sports Whey Protein Isolate. I thought I would try the concentrate as the amino acid profile label shown on the Amazon website indicated it had higher concentrations of the most important amino acids . For a 33g serving, the label shown on the website indicates 3399 mg of Leucine, 1980 mg of Isoleucine, and 1452 mg of Valine. The label on the bottle I received shows only 2472 mg of leucine, 1440 mg of isoleucine, and 1056 mg of valine. In other words, about 25% less potent for stimulating muscle protein synthesis.

Less expensive than their protein isolate product, but not by as much as you'd think.

I just discovered this product after having used NOW Whey Protein Isolate. It turns out, this product is denser than the isolate. 5 lbs of protein concentrate has 69 one-ounce servings whereas 5 lbs of the isolate has 82 one-ounce servings. so, pound for pound the less expensive concentrate is 72% the price of the protein isolate, but each serving is 84% the price of the isolate. Protein Concentrate is roughly 64 cents and the Isolate is roughly 75 cents. So, basically $3 difference each month between them, with one serving a day.

The Isolate is a little easier going down. This lesser expensive form has more of a powdered milk taste, whereas the isolate form is less so. That being said, I've discovered adding a dropperful of almond extract masks that powdered milk taste (without needing to add sugar.) I actually had done that for a while with the isolate form, but got to where I was used to the taste and didn't bother. Maybe that will be the case with this lesser expensive form. If I don't get used to the taste, I'll probably switch back to the isolate (as long as the price difference between servings remains low.)

EDIT: I originally gave this 4 stars, but realized afterwards that I base that on a simple comparison with a similar product by the same company. Compared to protein supplement products overall, either of the these NOW unsweetened and unflavored protein supplements are great. They don't have a bunch of extra empty calories, are relatively palatable. I'd rather save those empty calories found in other products and have a REAL milkshake!!!

Product inconsistency and lack of quality control

We have been buying this product for a few years. Off late, the quality is very inconsistent and disappointing to say the least. We love the product because of its low sodium content. But every batch we order is different in color and texture. The darker yellow powder is the one I recently purchased which has gone stale. The last order I received smells stale and awful. It is a shame that I have to look for alternate options, if this continues. Hope the manufacturer takes note of the comments and brings about some quality control.

My Honest Opinion!!

I have used a few protein powders but i decided that i wanted to find something with less ingredients and something cheaper. Many Protein powders have a long list of ingredients some of which i have no clue about. I went t for this Now Sports Unflavored protein powder because it got good reviews based on research i did. The reviews here on amazon were mixed with people saying it tastes awful which threw me off a bit.
I must say the taste is not nasty it actually taste like milk without sugar so maybe adding something to it will definitely help the flavor, trust me its not that bad. everyone have different taste buds. I love it, very decent powder and it also contains BCAA.
