Great taste, Premium Quality, Better Price

Taste: I wanted a casein protein without any artificial sweeteners (aspartame, sucralose...). I didn't know if I would like something that has no flavor but when I mixed this (very easy to mix, no clumps). I mix it with Almond milk before bed and it just taste like regular milk which is great. In smoothies I'll use different frozen berries and it is awesome. Also doesn't have any weird chemical aftertaste like you get with other proteins.

Quality: Promix has been around for years and when they come out with a product I know they've put some time and thought into it. I tried other Caseins (Naked, NOW) after trying Promix and I preferred Promix because it mixed more easily, had slightly better taste, third party testing, and sources from pasture based farms. I feel like my recovery has improved, I've lost some body fat and my energy in the morning is up and hunger down.

Price: Great quality at a great price. I haven't found anything I like better and will definitely be re-ordering when I run out. Just for comparison of other unflavored I tried: Naked Casein is $10 more and and I preferred Promix, NOW Casein is $5 less but no where near the quality of sourcing, testing (NOW doesn't make a statement regarding hormone use). Promix Casein was the clear winner for me.

This tastes very good

Do I ever feel guilty? I love Naked Nutrition's supplements but I'm in an in-between situation in my training right now and have worked more casein into my nutrition. My needs in a protein powder are simple: No artificial sweeteners and preferably not even Stevia or its processed versions under other names like Reb A. Ease of mixing. Decent taste. That's it. I have joked on other supplement reviews that I used to take protein shakes in the 90s that required holding my nose while chewing just to get them down. I don't know whether Naked or ProMix first used coconut sugar but I have no reason to try and compare the companies, as I now have two favorite supplement companies.

The reason I came to ProMix for this Casein is I can't find Naked Casein in flavored forms of 1 LB tubs. They only offer the unflavored in 1 LB in Naked. I like unflavored protein. I usually use it to mix some berries in and can use a flavored almond milk to add flavors. I still crave sweet flavors like chocolate and vanilla and everyone says, "Just put some cocoa powder in it." No. I spend more time making my protein shakes than I do making my dinner. I don't need another step added to making the protein shakes. I just received this 1 LB tub yesterday and have already made two shakes with it.

Casein protein is usually best to take before bed so it can slowly-digest and keep your metabolism running while you sleep but I have been drinking two a day along with two whey protein shakes too. I'm trying to seriously lean myself out at around 40 years old. Here's the two mixes I tried yesterday: Almond Breeze Vanilla Unsweetened with nothing else except the chocolate powder from ProMix. It was very good. It reminded me of the chocolate/vanilla pudding swirl cups I used to eat as a kid except I put too much milk in it so it was more of a drink. I'm thinking if I cut the amount of milk in half it would allow it to be eaten with a spoon like a pudding. The second one was one that I had my doubts toward. The ProMix chocolate with frozen strawberries and the same unsweetened vanilla almond milk. This was so much better than I expected it to be. Today, I'm going to try one mixed with the almond with coconut milk to see how it tastes.

This powder easily meets my criteria. I'm mixing it in a Nutri-Ninja, it takes less than 10 seconds, to make a perfectly-smooth drink/smoothie. It tastes very good. I would rate it as the best tasting casein I've used but it might be unfair since I have only used Naked's unflavored casein. The chocolate can be tasted with this. It's not overly-chocolate but a little richer tasting than the chocolate whey proteins I have tried. I know people like to say casein is supposed to be not as good-tasting as whey but in my experience, casein, if blended with a good blender is better tasting than whey.

You also get a very good BCAA profile with this powder.

ProMix has at least earned a spot in my casein needs for the next 6-8 weeks and I'll even give their whey a try too. It's good to see these companies making a healthier, more natural protein powder. It's much appreciated.

It's what the casein does NOT have that should get your attention!

It used to be that we looked for certain attributes in a product or certain ingredients on the label. As we become more educated, we learn that it's what the product does NOT contain that makes it a desirable product when you want to protect your health. That's exactly how I feel about this unflavored casein.

I read all of the reviews for this product prior to purchase, even the "bad" ones. I have been searching for a casein for a while now, and either missed these guys, or they weren't on Amazon yet. However, what I was searching for was not easy to find - no fat, no carbs/no sugar, soy-free, hormone and GMO-free, cold-processed, no sweeteners (even artificial ones), while offering a complete amino acid profile. More simply put, all I wanted to see on the label was the casein and not much else. Bam! Promix nails it! In fact, I am so impressed that I recommended it to health food stores in my area.

I want an unflavored casein because it's versatile. I can add my own flavors, whether I choose to make it a chocolate flavor with cacao, or add any other type of flavoring, such as vanilla. I noticed that a lot of people mentioned that this had a chalky taste, which was also mentioned regarding other fairly clean casein powders. The only way to get away from that is to probably consume a product that is casein mixed with whey or soy, which will also contain sugars, flavors, and other things, most of which I do not want.

So, bottom line is that you can choose your health and avoid consuming powders full of sugars and flavors, or you can choose to consume what you don't need (i.e., sugar, soy, etc.). If you want to add fat and carbs, that's an easy fix - I just prefer to add those things myself. I have even used this powder for my own little recipe, adding between 1tbsp to 1 scoop of this powder to my own version of pancakes and trust me - my "pancakes" don't taste chalky. Today, after working out, I decided to have a shake with Promix and I have nothing to complain about. There are a hundred ways you can choose to "dress" it up if you are so inclined!

Kudos to this company for what its product does NOT contain - and for offering a 1lb size for those of us who don't go through the powders so quickly!!

Great supplement but manage your taste expectations

Five stars for what it is, not for what you might want it to be. This stuff does not taste good by itself. It just doesn't. Don't expect it to taste great by itself - it's just casein protein. Over time, you will get used to the taste if you drink it often enough. If you feel so inclined as to make a big smoothie or something before bed, go for it, but I am just trying to maintain/build muscle while I sleep without adding a lot of other calories; so, I just mix it with water in a shaker bottle about a half hour before bed.

It's a little chalky; so, don't expect the same texture as whey, but it mixes fine - I shake it 20-30 seconds typically. I haven't noticed any digestive issues, per se, but it does what it purports to do: clots in your stomach for a slow release of protein. Want to get a glimpse of it? Try shaking it up in a shaker with just water and put it in the fridge for an hour or two. When you take it out, you will wonder if you poured casein or concrete into your shaker. This makes it a GREAT supplement for a protein "ice cream" that I will make from time to time. Take 4 frozen bananas, an avocado, 2 scoops of casein, 2-4 scoops of your favorite flavored whey -- I use Promix Raw Chocolate -- .5-1C milk or almond milk (more liquid depending on how much powder you use), and blend. You will have soft serve immediately that keeps you full and a lot leftover for later in the week,

My first go with casein.

This is the first time that I have ever purchased casein. I have always used whey protein for pre and post workout shakes. I recently became aware of consuming casein before bedtime to help with gaining lean mass, so I thought I would give this a try.

Right off the bat, I noticed that this protein needs a lot more water than whey, like, twice as much. It mixes well, but it isn't as creamy as whey and goes down smooth. I have nothing negative to say about this product. It remains to be seen if using this along with the whey protein will help me gain lean mass.
