Probably the best quality whey protein on the market.
I want to begin this review with the forewarning that if you are looking for tasty whey powder to mix with milk or water and enjoy like a milkshake, stick to muscle milk or similar products. You will be disappointed as this whey has no sweeteners added. The 2.5 grams of carbs per serving the bag claims is lactose-derived.

This whey is the real deal. It mixes clump-free as pure whey should. It tastes a lot like coffee creamer when added to plain milk or water, yet mixes quite well with fruits smoothies as well as chocolate milk and baked in protein bars (so far that's all I've tried).

With no additives, this all natural whey is a home run. The fact that it is locally made here in Wisconsin makes it even better. I'm almost through my first 2lb bag and will be ordering a bigger 6lb bag to be more economical once this one is gone.

Bottom line: you will not be able to find a better quality whey protein for the price, if a better whey protein exists. 100% recommend.

Nothing beats the purity of Mike's Mix
Over the past year I've tried a lot of whey products, mostly the ones recommended by body building sites. All of them have added ingredients which I've found unnecessary for my goals - to be more athletic and more muscular. I love Mike's Mix Unflavored Whey for many reasons:

1. It tastes great.
2. Nothing added; it's simply all-natural pure whey concentrate.
3. Mixes easily in my blender bottle.
4. Costs a LOT less per ounce than any other whey product I've tried.
5. My stomach agrees with it quite nicely.

I highly recommend trying Mike's Mix as a protein source.

Not so fast Mike !
So I just ordered this product and tested it. Things you should really know about whey!
1. This is whey protein concentrate
2. Is denatured ( beneficial protein structures are destroyed)
3. Containes a high amount of cholesterol

First off if you do your research you will find that whey protein concentrate is the worst whey you can buy period ! It's high in cholesterol and most of the nutrition is lost during the process. The protein content WPC (whey protein concentrate) can range between 35 and 80% meaning you would have to drink double to just get all 25g of protein also meaning you get twice the amount of fat and cholesterol that comes with WPC. It also contains high lactose and fat levels which In mikes mix the fat has been reduced on the nutritional facts which throws a red flag because the cholesterol is so high I doubt the true content of fat is 1.5g. The high temperatures, used in the process, also oxidize large part of the present cholesterol. Oxidized cholesterol is the type of cholesterol that can cause hardening of arteries and cardio-vascular problems. Point is don't buy this product he can tell you all the BS he wants to about how pure his product is but if you do your research you will find WPC to be cheap and unhealthy no matter what the process is its all the same !!! Now stick with cross-flow micro- (ultra-) filtered whey isolate and the reason for this is simple !!! Has low if any amounts of lactose, fats and cholesterol. Retains its native proteins intact, Promotes muscle repair and growth, Strengthens the immune function, and Has detoxifying and antioxidant properties. I have been bidybuilding for 15 years and done my research I just want to make sure you do yours. Now if you look at mikes website you will also see he sells Maltodextrin a sweetener derived from starch or corn as we know it. Another sweeter named High Fructose Corn Syrup is also broken down from corn. The two are different but very similar in health effects and are both processed sweetners. Mike says all natural a lot but never explains why he uses artificial sweetners in is recover mix and the fact his whey protein is WPC also meaning processed !!! Just a heads up but shop at your own risk just make sure to check everything you eat you might find out a lot more than meets the eye !!!

Excellent protein powder - and scoop size is correct!
I love Mike's Mix and have been buying the 2 lb. bags from Amazon for a while, but this time I went for the 4 lb. as the price jumped up significantly on the 2 lb. bag recently. It keeps well so I know I'll get through this monster before it goes bad.

This makes great protein shakes; I like the whey much better than soy powders (whey better?!) because it doesn't add much of its own taste to the shake.

*** Edited 2/10/22 - I was wrong about the scoop, Sorry, Mike's Mix! ***
In my original review I stated that the scoop did not measure out the stated 28 gm serving. But that's because a serving is two scoops.

I was looking at the nutritional info on the package and it clearly states that the 28 gm serving is two scoops, not one. I guess I didn't read it very closely. So, in fact, the scoop does provide a correct measurement. I just measured the weight of one level scoop and it's 14 grams, so two scoops provide 28 grams of powder, just like they say. Once again, sorry for the misinformation.

Weigh your servings!
For unflavored protien the flavor is good, mixes great and best of all it is protein concentrate with none of the other crap that is in most flavored protein blends. The instructions say the serving size is one scoop which equals 28g. However the enclosed scoop slightly rounded only provides about 18g of the product so if you want an accurate measure of protein weigh the product with a food scale. If the claim of 23g of protein per 28g serving is accurate then one slighty rounded scoop only provides about 14.8g of protein. Servings per package is still accurate since 4 lbs = 64 oz which would equate to 64.6 28g servings.

Better Ask the right question if you are concerned about full disclosure and ingesting GMO Soy Lecithin and Chemicals
According to a few back and forth emails, the company has confirmed that SOY LECITHIN is used. That does NOT match up with the natural claim or the listed ingredients. All Soy (unless organic, which is hard to find) is GMO soy and full of chemicals (sprayed with round up). According to this company they do not list the Soy Lecithin, AS it is part of whey protein concentrate? I believe companies should just be up front. Lecithin is helpful in whey but Sunflower Lecithin is a safer lecithin.
