Serious about recovery? Use this product.

I am 62. I rode 3790 miles in January, averaging over 120 miles a day. I never missed drinking Ultragen within the 30 minute recovery window and I was always ready to go the next day. It is not cheap at $3 a serving or I expect coaches would be mixing it up and passing it out in the locker rooms to each player after every workout (I wish it had been around during my high school and college sports days). It mixes easily in one of those sports shakers with the little shaker ball. I am a fan of Hammer's Recoverite, too, but Ultragen is even better, maybe by ingredients twice the product. My daughter and son-in-law visited last summer and rode with me every day for a week. I mixed up Ultragen shakes for them as soon as we had our helmets and gloves off. There was only one day that they raced off without the Ultragen, and that one time made them both huge believers in the product. They really noticed the difference, so they are hooked on the product, too. Tropical Punch is my favorite flavor, they favor Cappuccino. All are tasty. Again, it's not cheap and you don't run into many sales on it, but it's a product well worth it.

BEST RECOVERY DRINK EVER!

I am an endurance athlete, I train 2+ hours 5 days a week and I have NEVER had a better recovery drink. I have never left a review for a product on Amazon, or any other website for that matter, but I felt the need to say how amazing this product is. I run, bike, hike, crossfit, weight train, etc. and this has been a very important part of my program. I am getting ready for a crossfit competition this Saturday, climbing Mt Whitney this month as well as training for a duathalon next month and Ultragen recovers my body fast and prevents me from feeling exhausted. The key is to drink it the minute your body stops moving. Yesterday I ran 6 miles and cycled 19.5 and drank it the second I finished and I felt amazing all day, never felt tired, worn out or sore. AMAZING product! I have only tried the Cappuccino thus far, but I am sure they are all good. It's a fine power so it mixes easily and completely with water. Really can't say enough great things about it....

An excellent recovery drink for taking after a long run

This drink is specially formulated to provide your body with what it needs after a long hard workout (for example, after running a half-marathon). Drink it within 30 minutes after the run. After I started using this drink, I found I recovered more quickly after long runs. I've only tried the tropical punch flavor so far. I probably wouldn't drink it just for its flavor! But as a protein supplement, it's tastes very good.

Great recovery tool

Really great combination of ingredients geared specifically toward recovery after endurance exercise. I like it because I can just down a glass of this after a hard workout and I know I'm getting all the key vitamins, BCAAs, protein, and carbs I need for my best recovery, without having to think about it. I am a 28 yo female, 115 lbs and I run between 50-75mi/weeks during marathon training. After a 12-14mi workout or 16-20mi long run I will take 1.5 scoops of this (just due to my caloric needs/size) instead of the full 2 scoops. Then I follow it with a full "real" meal of protein and carbs about 2 hrs later, or when I start to get hungry. Just being able to plow through my toughest workouts and then get up the next day and do it all again makes me feel like this product is well worth it and does make a difference in my recovery.

On the flavors: I've tried Tropical Punch and Cappuccino and FAR prefer the cappucchino. It's pretty sweet and really doesn't taste much like coffee (almost more frappuccino-esque), but a good pick if you don't like the fruity options.

This stuff works.

I don't get too jazzed up about most things, especially when it comes to fitness products. Unfortunately, most over promise and under deliver. Not so with Ultragen. I started using this at the end of April, and broke protocol by using this both pre and post race. The results have been pretty unexpected, for both performance and recovery. 5 consistent 70 mile rides have seen an average drop in time of 10 minutes (average). I have to attribute this to the Ultragen because it's the only thing that has changed. I haven't dropped weight, haven't changed my diet, haven't changed the route, haven't changed my equipment, nor have I added or removed any other supplements. I can't explain the science and I'm not a nutritionist, so I don't have any real explanation other than this is one product that really works as advertised.

I always sit down to a good meal as well

I have been using Ultragen for 3 years and would not want to complete a long ride or training session without it. Of course, I always sit down to a good meal as well, but when I have not had the Ultragen after a ride I just don't have the same recovery results. No matter the stretching or yoga, a wake up with tighter muscles the next morning. For me, the drink just seems to allow for my legs to feel more rested at bedtime, allowing a good recovery sleep for the next day's ride.
