I add a teaspoon to my smoothies and it has and slight caramel or butterscotch flavor, but it is hardly noticeable when mixed in with the smoothie. My favorite way to incorporate it into my day is to add it to my morning coffee! It dissolves so easily and leaves a smooth and creamy flavor that I cannot get enough of! I noticed an immediate energy boost when I started taking this product. As a mother of three, it was a much needed pick-me-up! My only complaint is that the package can be a little hard to close. Once you get it lined up just right, it's perfectly fine. This is strong black maca. It smells fresh and aromatic. I definitely feel the difference in my energy level after taking the product twice, in a smoothie yesterday and this morning. Black gelatinized maca if authentic and made right is effective for men - improves sperm count, increases energy, improves concentration, heals headaches, delivers oxygen to red blood cells which means it can combat shortness of breath and delivers other goodies. It does not work fast, don't expect that after 3 days u will feel a great difference. It takes about 3 weeks of daily use for it to kick in. Maca is adaptogen, which means u can't take it all the time. It should be cycled 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. First month it could be 3 weeks on and 2 off. And for maca to work, it is crucial to take the right dose. 3 grams a day provides slow but effective buildup without side effects.<br />I got this maca today. The first turn off - THERE IS NO MEASURING SPOON. On the package Madre Nature wrote some BS - do not exceed recommended dose. Well then maybe u should have provided say ways of measuring the dose?<br />Suggested use: 1 tsp 3 times a day. 1 tsp of such a fine powder should be around 14 g, if heaping, 9 g if leveled. Taken 3 times a day this would guarantee upset stomach and poor effect since adaptogens reverse their useful properties when overdosed.<br />If i don't find an easy way to measure it, this staff is going back.

I base this on its effects, as well as its color and taste. Whether it is due to the choice of deeply pigmented tubers, or to the grinding and milling methods used, the color of this Maca shows that it is the real thing, and frankly the color is pleasing to the senses, as is the consistency of the product.
