Very pleased!

My doctor recommended taking magnesium and calcium at night to help with anxiety/insomia. (He also suggested I read the Magnesium Miracle. I got the book from the library and skimmed it--magnesium is made out to be a wonder cure for many common ills.)

Anyway... I first picked this brand up at a health food store and paid twice as much. My doctor specifically mentioned Magnesium Citrate (for absorption) and said the calcium to magnesium should be a 2:1 ratio--for example 1200 mg calcium, 600 mg magnesium. One reason I picked this brand is because it's capsules vs. tablets--better absorption.

I've been taking 450mg of magnesium at night; haven't quite gotten up to 600mg. I do think it's helped somewhat. I know large doses of magnesium can result in loose stools... it hasn't been a problem.

I repurchased this product and will continue taking it.

Helping my sleep and training

I wanted to add magnesium for strength and recovery, but also for sleep. I've tried a boatload of various supplements, etc. for sleep and usually I end up way too hung over.

I started taking 2 of these caps at bedtime, and I feel like it is helping me sleep more deeply and continuously. It may be that I have some magnesium deficiency and I am finally getting to the root of the sleep problem. I will buy them again.

Great product for great price

I've been using this brand of Magnesium Citrate for years. (Great for constipation! On that note, I saw a few reviews that said it only works some of the time. Hint: If I've eaten something different/dense or something right before bed or an abundance of food (rare), I do take an extra two capsules. I took an extra 6 capsules (total of 2 grams) after taking a pain medication that caused constipation. Think about increasing when it doesn't work, and I've experimented with it a LOT. Everyone's needs change from day to day, and I've gotten the hang of it. I typically take between 8 and 10 before bed - works! If I've barely eaten that day, I'll only take 8.) I've noticed before that sometimes the capsules break open, and that was from a local store, so it happens sometimes. Seller was awesome when they read my 5 star review (that I don't see here anymore) mentioning the broken capsules, and they sent me a replacement for free! Now that's class! Clearly they care very much about their products and their customers.

Natural Factors: Please fix your encapsulator!

I like the product, but in several of bottles I have purchased over time, many capsules are broken and I have about 3 oz of loose powder in the bottle. It makes a big mess when I'm trying to get capsules out.

magnesium itself seems good

The magnesium inside the capsules seems to be a good product. The main thing I have against this product is the capsules themselves are like plastic. They get stuck in my throat and once in there, they take forever to melt down. My throat hurts for quite some time before they dissolve. So I break open the capsules and put them in my liquid calcium at night and never take them whole. With this method, they go to work and give me a good night sleep and help take away leg cramps. I'd rather have a bottle of the powder to scoop out at night than these capsules. But other people may be fine with taking them. I can take a lot of soft gel pills all at once with no problem and they don't get stuck in my throat like these do. So just try'em and see what works for you.
