This is NOT a "protein shake mix," it is 100% hydrolyzed whey protein with no flavors, sweeteners or emulsifiers.

This is the best deal you will find on 100% hydrolyzed whey protein.

Many of the reviews here are treating this product as if it was a "protein shake mix." This is 100% protein powder with no flavors, sweeteners or emulsifiers. If you mix it with water and nothing else, you probably won't love the taste. You can certainly consume it plain, but most people will like to add some flavor.

For my daily protein shake, I like to mix 16oz water, 5T Bulksupplements Pure Hydrolyzed Whey Protein, 2T cocoa powder, 2T cane sugar, 1t creatine monohydrate and 1t sunflower lecithin. The cost per serving using these ingredients is significantly lower than buying premixed hydrolyzed whey protein shakes. (Some of the Bulksupplements protein powders contain soy lecithin-- this powder does NOT. You'll find lecithin in the ingredient mix of most protein shake mixes, as it helps the powder and any flavorings dissolve better. Soy is fine, but I like the taste of sunflower lecithin better)

Hydrolyzed whey is excellent for people who have difficulty digesting dairy. I've used sprouted rice protein for years, since most whey powders don't agree with my stomach. Hydrolyzed whey is totally different though. I can take this protein twice a day without any gas, bloating or any of the other unpleasant digestive affects that whey protein can cause. (If you've ever taken whey protein and had "sticky" bowel movements afterwards, you should try hydrolyzed whey.)

As far as the packaging-- I agree that the recloseable zip is awful. It might as well not even be there. That being said, this is being sold as a bulk ingredient, not a convenience product. A good solution is to reuse the container and scoop from some expensive protein powder that you purchased before you got smart and started making your own.

High quality!

Quality whey. The taste isn't the best but what do you expect from 100% pure hydrolyzed whey. I mix it with another workout supplement that I like and it seems to be a pretty good combo as far hiding the taste goes. It's hard to beat the value of bulksupplements especially if you mix your own supplements. Which I would highly recommend as it's becoming more and more difficult to find quality products out there. FYI if you've never messed with hydrolyzed whey before it can turn into a mess quickly if you're not careful. DO NOT OPEN THE ZIPLOC PORTION OF THE BAG! simply take scissors and cut the top off and transfer it to another container. If you open the ziploc and are anything like me and try and hulkenstein it when it gives you the slightest resistance, it will explode like a powdery grenade of irritation all over everything. Leaving a fine white mist to irritate you for some time to come. Obviously this is from experience and even with that crazyness I still thought it was appropriate to give this a 5 star review. That should give you an indication of the actual quality you're receiving.

Always the best price

Bulk supplements always has the best price for supplements. Powder form usually is the most economical option but you have to deal with the taste. Whey protein isolate has a very mild, agreeable flavor. However the process of hydrolyzation, while breaking down the protein to make it more available to your body, also affects the flavor. The taste is somewhat disagreeable but you can mask it by mixing it with a flavored beverage. Or you mix it with a minimum amount of liquid and drink it down as a "shot". I think all of us that use various powdered supplements have our own way of dealing with the taste. The bottom line is you always think to yourself it's good for me so deal with it!

Great Fast Acting Protein

This protein is exactly what your body needs after a harsh and muscle abusing workout :-).
I've been on an intense plan, and to make it through I had to upgrade the quality of my post weights protein.
This protein is digested quickly to allow the muscles stop breaking.....

Taste is fine to me, little bit on the milk side. But honestly, I was never one of those cookies, marshmallow, or banana flavored proteins for a few reasons:

1. I like my protein as clean as possible (no sugar or substitutes).
2. No fillers.
3. No ingredient that takes more than 2 seconds to pronounce.
4. I want something to get the job done, quickly, instead of something that tastes good. Similar to alcohol, if I want to drink and get in a good mood I'll go for single malt, not for a wine box ....

Pure Protein....But At a Cost

I was offered a free sample of this product if I would review it on here afterwards. While I have tried some of their other products before, this one did not quite live up to expectations. Pros and Cons listed below:

PROS:
- Clearly it is a very pure/lean protein with no additives (flavor or other)

CONS:
- Due to it being such a pure protein with no flavor additives, it tastes terrible with a cheesy aftertaste. Tried to mask the flavor by mixing it into a smoothie with fresh fruit and vanilla Greek yogurt, but the cheese wins out every-time. Not ideal first thing in the morning.
- Also due to it being so pure and fine, it acts as a thickener in smoothies; it filled up my entire blender after about 10 seconds.
- Awful packaging. After the first time opening it, I looked like I just partook in a drug deal gone horribly wrong. Pants, sleeves, floor, pretty much everything were covered in a fine white powder. The resealable package also would not reseal because it had so much protein powder lodged inside of it.

CONCLUSION:
- This product would be great for someone only worried about having the most natural and purest whey protein. If you are an everyday whey protein drinker and care even the slightest bit about taste, I can't see how you would use this product on a regular basis (unless of course u love liquid cheese, then have at it).

No additives.

Bought this because it has absolutely no additives, just hydrolyzed whey. I'm pretty sensitive to dairy so I had hoped that the hydrolyzed whey would not trigger this - seems to be fine - I have not noticed any ill effects. It dissolves quickly in juice and tastes ok (as long as I use juice). I'm pretty satisfied with this and would recommend it to anyone looking to avoid all the artificial flavors in other brands.
