OK

I bought this mostly for use in breakfast smoothies. The first time using it, I added 3 tablespoons to a mixed berry smoothie (smoothie recipe on the bag calls for 3 TBS), and it was awful. It left a terrible after-taste that lingered for hours. Maybe it's better with bananas and apples, as in the recipe on the bag, than berries. Next time, I added only 1 TBS and it tasted fine and then increased to 2 TBS, which works too. It's a good additive to homemade breads. I've put the remaining 3 bags of the 4-pack in the freezer because it'll take a while to use it all. I like that it's free of artificial additives that so many protein powders have. Acceptable product, good price.

Bob's Soy Protein Powder

I count on this to get enough protein, since I'm a vegan. For protein, I eat nuts, beans, nutritional yeast, but I get about 50 grams of protein from the soy powder. I mix it with soymilk for morning cereal, and with berries for dessert...tastes lovely and creamy, but mix well to avoid powder lumps! Being fond of sweet tastes, I add Stevia, which is an acquired taste. Since soy is all protein, and Stevia sweeter than sugar, it helps keep calories down.

Bob's is the best

Bob's is the best. It always has been. They don't add anything to this soy powder, which is getting harder and harder to find in the stores. All the others add fake sugar, flavoring, or seeds of some sort. (Yes, Bob's adds chia seeds to some of the other flavors ... which is disgusting and a total turnoff because they puff up in the glass and gag me!) If they made this soy powder, exactly like it is, but with added chocolate flavor --- with no trace of fake sugar (including "stevia") and zero stupid seeds --- just chocolate flavor with regular sugar .... then that would be heaven. In the meantime, I just mix this in with my Ovaltine and it works great. It took a while to figure out the best way to mix it so it doesn't lump up, but it works now. (Thoroughly mix the dry powders together before adding almond milk.)
Thanks, Bob's Red Mill!

Good product

I recently started tracking my diet on Fitbit, and surprised to find I was low on protein. Not a vegan or vegetarian, just don't eat much meat. Thought I ate enough other protein rich foods. So looked for a non-flavored protein powder to add to my daily oatmeal. I already add Bob's flaxmeal to the oatmeal, so decided to try Bob's protein.
It has no taste, it doesn't affect the consistency of the cereal, and adds 5g of protein to my diet every day. Have I noticed any improvement in my health? No, not really. I didn't have many complaints before. But I'll assume it has long term benefits, so I'll keep doing it. One negative: it does tend to clump up. But I also add fruit to the oatmeal while it's cooking, and I've found that stirring it with the fruit will break up the clumps.
I went with Soy protein rather than whey products because sometimes when I eat ice cream I get a stomachache. I don't drink much dairy milk. I already eat tofu and soymilk, so decided on the soy powder.

Avoid using in Shakes/Drinks

Although the product claims to be a viable additive for shakes/drinks, our experience is it won't dissolve without a blender.

Simply put it clumps.

The taste is fine, actually good, so my recommendation is to look elsewhere for a drink supplement.

Don't Fear The Soy

I've tried various protein powders over the years and have recently been comparing and contrasting
several very different types including: Naked Seed (from the people who make Naked Whey and Naked Rice), Sprouted Brown Rice Protein, High-Fiber Hemp Protein, Fermented Pea Protein, and Grass-Fed Whey Protein Concentrate.

I began to question my prior pick, Sprouted Brown Rice Protein, due to the bitter flavors in the powder. As far as I'm aware this is a leftover concentration from the fermentation process which is actually healthful, but it was a bit oft-putting and I thought maybe I had a mild reaction. It could be psychological and from the flavor, however.

Of all the proteins, this Soy protein is by far the most neutral. It is VERY clean and pure to all my senses. This makes sense since it is an isolate and the others are not, but it's purity and neutrality leave me with a very good impression.

Upon sampling a hefty serving I have noticed no gastro-intestinal issues in comparison to some of the others.

I feel as if it is a healthful pure and clean protein of the highest standards and anyone who is wary of soy should give it a try. Just because a lot of over-processed soy junkfoods give the crop a bad name, good products like this exist that people should not shy away from.
