360 2-A Day = 6 month supply

The daily supplement amount recommended by most nutritionists is now 8000IUs a day. Only 6 months ago they were recommending 5000IUs a day and have determined that 8000IUs is now a better number to shoot for as far as supplements go. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin which means 2 things for you, 1. you dont have to take it multiple times a day since your body will store it in your fat cells (unlike vitamin C and other water soluble vitamins which should be taken multiple times a day) and 2. Being that it is fat soluble it is easier to over dose on. The good news is that Vitamin D requires about 50,000IUs daily for an extended period of time before you start seeing serious negative side affects from overdose. So overall Vitamin D is a very safe vitamin to take.

When reading the reviews I thought it odd that not one persons review stated how much Fish oil is in the capsule. Since Fish oil is listed as MG and D as IU there was, to me, some missing information I would have liked to know and that the Seller should have provided in its product description. So I will list the supplement facts for you so that you can make a more informed decision

As you know this has 4,000IUs of Vitamin D3 as cholecalciferol and Cod Liver Oil
1IU of Vitamin E as d-alpha tocopherol (being the best kind of vitamin E you can take but its only purpose here is to keep the oil from going rancid during storage)

Norwegian Cod LIver OIl of 500mg
Total Omega-3 is 115mg (well below the suggested dosage of 1.1 to 1.6g a day even if you take 2 a day {some nutriononists actually say half that amount 500-600mg})
DHA is 50mg
EPA is 42mg
Other Omega-3 23mg

If you need any other info feel free to comment.

Can't live without it

I was having some serious pain in my hip joints, this item took that pain away. I have a sedentary job and don't get much natural sun........I do now with the vitamin D's help.

Awful experience!

I have regularly taken this same amount of Vitamin D from another brand and had a wonderful experience. Then, I saw all of the fantastic reviews for Carlson brand here at Amazon and at numerous other websites and thought I would try Carlson for an even better yet experience. However, I had awful side effects accumulate and worsen from Carlson Lab's Vitamin D. I agree with a previous reviewer about the breakouts being caused by this product, not to mention other side effects. I never even considered that this was the source of the side effects, but when there were no other culprits and someone else had a similar experience with Carlson Labs Vitamin D also, I knew that this was the cause. Awful!

Fabulous quality!

I've been so meticulous about protecting my skin from the sun (sun hat, gloves, long sleeved tops when running errands) that my vitamin D level became low.

I went on a long search for a fish based Vitamin D3 oil after the great Solray brand switched from fish oil to selling lanolin (oil from the wool of sheep).

I wanted the finest quality Vitamin D3 fish oil. What attracted me to Carlson is the rigorous quality control processing that Carlson adheres to, so I decided to try it.

The small round capsules are easy to swallow and tasteless.

I pierced a capsule out of curiosity and found the oil to be clear and light-medium in viscosity. There is no fishy aftertaste. I love the quality of this oil!

I gave this product 5 stars because it deserves it. My search for the best Vitamin D3 oil ends with Carlson. I will be a loyal customer of this brand.

Very disappointed... contains fish oils and I'm vegetarian, so I wasted my money

I was looking forward to a Vitamin D supplement I wouldn't have to take 4 times a day, but when I got this product I discovered it contains fish oils. Since I'm vegetarian, this inclusion makes the product totally unusable for me. There is no mention of fish oils in the product description.

NOTE: Since I wrote this review they have now included the product label in which you can see there is fish oil included. Hopefully this means other vegetarians will get the warning they need not to buy :)

Essential

I consider D3 an essential part of my health regimen and purchase it economically from amazon on a regular basis. I trust Carlson's to provide quality products.
