Read fine print

I did not read the fine print and realized these contain aspartate so would like to return the latest shipment.

Magnesium is important.

I've been taking this brand and another (interchangeably) for about two and half years, and I've seen my sleep improve and my muscles relax--no more Charlie horses! I used to work in the food industry as a cashier, I was on my feet for 8+ hours and when I would get home, I could barely walk and my calves were swollen. Lifting my legs would help, but I'd still be in pain the next day; once a friend introduced me to magnesium... WOW!!! It changed my life (and also some good compression socks!).

Silica is great for the bones, I have an old injury (broke my ankle as a kid) and the pain was excruciating, especially, when the weather changed or it rained. Both, the magnesium and the silica have done away w/all of that, thank God, no more pain or rolling of my ankles.

Good sleep + good poops

This is my all-time favorite magnesium. I take it in the morning to keep me calm (and regular) during the day and at night to relax and help me fall asleep. There is a noticeable difference on both fronts when I forget to take this. I've used other brands and types of magnesium in the past but this remains my favorite.

What's inside

The magnesium is in the form of oxide, taurinate, citrate, alpha-ketoglutarate and aspartate (aspartate is an amino acid, not to be confused with aspartame, which is an artificial sweetener). Silica is from horsetail extract. Additional ingredients include cellulose and medium chain triglycerides. Those familiar with nutritional science are aware that magnesium doesn't absorb in the body well, which is why it will cause gastrointestinal upset such as diarrhea or other stomach discomfort.

The ideal forms of magnesium comes in ionic or chelate forms. Problem with most magnesium supplements, it often has magnesium stearate and stearic acid. Both of these additives have been found to cause cellular problems and suppresses the immune system (these studies were conducted at the University of Texas Health Science Center and East Carolina University School of Medicine). One has to be vigilant when getting magnesium supplements, when searching for magnesium without these additives, some of Country Life's magnesium supplements has these additives.

Additional information concerning this product is that it is certified vegan, gluten-free and kosher. It doesn't contain yeast, wheat, corn, soy, milk, sugar, salt, preservatives or artificial color. The product is manufactured in Hauppauge, NY.

Keeps bowels moving

I became irregular in my bowel habits and this was recommended by my GI doctor. After initial treatment I stayed on this, only taking once capsule daily, to keep my bowels moving regularly. Great price for the benefit. I think more people should be aware that magnesium does interact with many prescription medications though.
