A great supplement that got my magnesium level up to normal but, not made in the USA.

The majority of people do not get enough magnesium in every day. In fact, only about 25% of people manage to get the recommended daily allowance. While 55% of people ingest below the RDA, 20% get significantly less than the RDA. I am a transplant recipient and have had trouble maintaining a normal magnesium level, even though I have supplemented, as one of the medications I take keeps me from absorbing it well. I had labs done in August and my magnesium level was 1.5. The low end of normal is 1.8 and, while this may not sound like it's terribly low, it is. I had been having bad leg cramps and having trouble falling and staying asleep, two signs of low magnesium So I started taking this 400 mg of magnesium per capsule (from magnesium oxide, magnesium citrate, and magnesium aspartate) as many times a day as I could fit it in, which is usually about 8x/day. And I've been taking 2 at a time. Had labs done again days ago and it is up to 2.1, which is right in the normal range!!! It's very hard to take too much magnesium but, be warned, it can give you diarrhea if you take too much. If you have mild constipation it can be a great mild laxative if you take a few in a day. Some signs of low magnesium are:
Painful muscle spasms
Muscle cramping
Fibromyalgia
Facial tics
Eye twitches, or involuntary eye movements
Anxiety
Times of hyperactivity
Difficulty getting to sleep
Difficulty staying asleep
If you drink a lot of caffeine, alcohol, or have a high sugar intake, you are at risk for low magnesium. There are plenty of other things that put you at risk as well. If our bodies didn't have magnesium, our muscles would be in a constant state of contraction. Having a magnesium deficiency can be very uncomfortable and painful!
This 400 mg dose of magnesium is a great dose! It's 100% of your recommended daily allowance! Most people will just need one capsule a day. The capsule is medium sized and goes down easily. If you have trouble getting pills or vitamins down, try taking them with something thicker like yogurt or apple sauce. Vitamins/pills will slide right down your throat with one bite! And, if not, take a couple more bites to push it down! This magnesium is not made in the USA, hence the 4 star rating rather than 5. I actually didn’t realize until just now that these are not made in the USA so will not be purchasing them again. The bottle and product page do not state where they were made. They are GMO free, which is great, and made in a GMP facility so extra care is taken to make sure things are done cleanly and correctly.
The other ingredients are: rice flour, cellulose(capsule), silica and stearic acid (vegetable source) . Not too many other ingredients. While these are not manufactured with wheat, gluten, soy, milk, egg, fish, shellfish, or tree nut ingredients, beware of allergens. They are manufactured in a facility that processes other ingredients containing these allergens.
Magnesium is responsible for keeping so many of our bodily functions working correctly and is a mineral that is very important to get enough of each day. If you are lacking, this is a great supplement to ensure you get enough in every day, unless you only want supplements made in the USA, as I do.

NOW

I used to take Twinlabs Magnesium, but they are gone now. I looked for just the right formula and found Now has what I want. This is another good product. It has Oxide, Citrate, and Aspartate in it. For some people, just the Citrate is good. For me, I find all 3 are important. Depending on how much you take, it can help you to sleep, and I've found it to be better than any prescribed stool softener. Now is a very Good name in Products, and natural. Thank you for having this product.

I was very disappointed that Amazon did not have the exact type of magnesium on the front or a review of the back so I would know what I was getting. I assumed it was magnesium citrate as that is what my empty bottle was that I had just finished and it was the same bottle. However, this one is magnesium OXIDE. That is the worst kind of magnesium! I am deeply disappointed in Amazon and NOW products for not allowing me to see the actual kind of magnesium is contains. :(

NOW Foods Magnesium

This was another recommendation from my doctor. I have a spinal injury, which affects the surrounding muscles. I take 2 capsules every night at bedtime & it really helps reduce the muscle tightness & pain. I definitely recommend this product. Getting enough magnesium also ends "restless legs." That's not a disease, but an indication you lack magnesium. Great product; we just bought more and will do so again.

Same brand I get from my integrated holistic health center

I can not take vitamins with a lot of additives in them such as wheat, soy, yeast, etc. because I have Crohn's Disease. I can't just go to the drug store & buy my vitamins because they have so many additives in them. I don't think anyone should be taking vitamins with so many unnecessary additives in them. I have gone to vitamin & health food stores but the prices are much higher. My order arrived extremely fast. I will definitely be ordering again. Great product & great price!

Can't live without this.

Take one each night before bed and you'll have excellent results in the morning! It helps the body absorb calcium better too.
