Wow. This product is amazing. I have a family history of depression, anxiety and suicide and suffer from depression and anxiety myself. I'm an extremely high-strung and impatient person. I hate it. I'm always yelling at my kids, I'm angry at the driver in front of me, angry because the WiFi is buffering, angry when I can't find my keys, etc. I finally was fed-up and as much as I hate pharmaceuticals I broke down and made an appointment with my doctor to get on anti-depressants. The same day I discovered 5-HTP and decided to give it a try. Since then I've cancelled my doctors appointment. Guys....this is an amazing chill pill. I've been taking it for a week now and I feel as if I'm "living in the moment" more. I'm smiling and laughing, singing out loud in the car, NOT getting frustrated at everything, sleeping better, strong libido (happy husband), and just have an all around relaxed feel. I feel like it's almost too good to be true and I hope it doesn't start to fade away. I only take 50 mg per day and purchased it at my local natural food store. I plan to take 100 mg per day during my period. Please buy this product, it's worth it.

for mild depression, I've tried several different kinds of anti-depressants. I hated all of them, and I found that even the lowest dose was too strong and had too many side effects. then a friend suggested I try 5-htp. I've been taking the Natural Balance 5-htp for 3 years now and it's been great for my mild depression. I take one or two a day. I've tried other brands of 5-htp, but I believe that Natural Balance 5-htp is the best. Other brands of 5-htp havent worked for me. 5-htp is cheaper than buying anti-depressants, no doctor visit or prescription is necessary, and I have not had any side-effects from taking it. Oh yeah, it's all natural, of course. 5-htp is made from a seed.

My 12-year-old daughter has been unhappy, crying daily and keeping to herself for the past 9 months. When talking this along with holy basil<br />I don't have bad anxiety anymore. I've been in them for 4 months now and love it.

I take one pill at night for my ADD per my doc's okay. I do feel calmer in the morning! I find it helpful.

I was told it would help my serotonin. I'm not proud of those days and wouldn't recommend doing drugs to anyone. It has definitely left me with permanent problems. Fortunately, there are products like 5-HTP to help with my low serotonin levels.<br /><br />I chose Natural Balance because the Alliance for Natural Health-USA recommends them as a trusted supplement supplier. I only switched to Natrol which I can buy at Costco because the pills had twice as much 5-HTP, and I got 150 pills for sixteen bucks.<br /><br />I would also like to note that the recommended daily dosage for helping treat depression is at least 150 mg according to WebMD and several other sources I looked at. This should be spread out over the course of the day since 5-HTP has a short half-life. In other words, it doesn't last long. Therefore, you would need to take about three of the Natural Balance 50 mg pills over the course of the day to tackle depression. It's still much cheaper than the other alternatives (exercise, a healthy diet, regular sleep, forcing yourself to smile, etc.)
